Scattered storms to return...

Scattered showers and thunderstorms are expected Monday and Monday evening ahead of a weak cold front approaching from the west.

NOAA's Storm Prediction Center has defined an area of a slight risk for severe thunderstorms across most of central Illinois, mainly between the Illinois River on the northwest side and Lawrenceville on the southeast side. Cold air aloft will make large hail more likely in the stronger storms, with some dry air aloft helping to make damaging winds more likely. The storms should move east into Indiana around Midnight.

Dry and warmer conditions are expected for Tuesday as sunshine develops under high pressure.
