A colder, stormy pattern ahead...

A colder, stormier weather pattern will continue to evolve across the nation’s mid-section. During the next 5 days, precipitation could total 1 to 3 inches from the southern Plains into the upper Midwest.  Scattered rain and snow showers will also continue in the Northwest.

During the weekend, rain will spread into the western and central Gulf Coast States, while mild, dry weather will prevail in the Atlantic Coast States.

Looking ahead, the 6- to 10-day outlook calls for colder-than-normal weather nearly nationwide. Near- to above-normal temperatures will be confined to California and the East Coast States. Meanwhile, near- to above-normal precipitation across the majority of the U.S. will contrast with drier-than-normal conditions in southern Florida, Texas, and the Pacific Coast region.
