Drier weather across the Midwest...

Across the Corn Belt, lowland flooding persists in a broad area stretching across the lower Midwest, particularly in the Ohio Valley.

On the Plains, mostly dry weather prevails. Temperatures are rebounding on the southern High Plains, but chilly conditions persist across eastern portions of the region. On the central Plains, pastures and winter grains are benefiting from recent topsoil moisture improvements, but more rain or snow will soon be needed to prevent further declines in crop condition.

In the South, recent and ongoing showers and thunderstorms have provided relief from long-term drought.

In the West, the latest in a series of storms is affecting the northern Rockies and the Pacific Northwest. Western water-supply prospects remain overall favorable, except in parts of Arizona and New Mexico.
