More extended wet weather ahead...

Locally, high pressure moving to the east will result in a partly sunny sky, an east wind and temperatures typical for mid-April on Thursday. Clouds will be on the increase by Thursday evening as a low pressure area from the Plains approaches the mid-Mississippi River Valley. Showers and thunderstorms will spread into southwest Illinois Thursday late night, and across central Illinois Friday morning. Periods of rain and thunderstorms are also anticipated during the day Friday and into Friday evening.

Elsewhere over the next few days, a spring storm complex is expected to develop rapidly over the Nation’s mid-section. The slow-moving system promises to bring heavy rain (1-2”, with locally higher amounts) to a broad area encompassing the central Plains, Midwest and Tennessee by the weekend.
