Locally, oppressive heat and humidity will build-in next week, with afternoon temperatures forecast to soar into the 90s!
Meanwhile, showers and thunderstorms will increase across the Delta and Southeast as a cold front stalls. High pressure behind the front will usher dry, cooler weather into the eastern Corn Belt, Northeast, and Mid-Atlantic, although heat will return from the west by week’s end. On the backside of the high, showers and thunderstorms are expected to lift from the central Plains into the northern Plains and western Corn Belt.
Elsewhere, hot, dry weather will continue across the southern Plains, while monsoon showers linger across the Four Corners and central Rockies. Cool, mostly dry weather is expected west of the Rockies, with showers confined to the Pacific Northwest.
