Harvest winding-down across the state
Across the state over the past week, soybean harvest increased by only one percentage point from the previous week to 98 percent. Corn harvest was 97 percent complete moving only three percentage points from the previous week. Across the rest of the eastern Corn Belt, however, substantial amounts of corn and some soybeans remain in the field.
Looking ahead, the 6- to 10-day outlook calls for above-normal temperatures across the eastern two-thirds of the U.S., while colder-than-normal weather will prevail in the West. Meanwhile, above-normal precipitation in many areas, including the northern Plains, the Midwest, including east-central Illinois, and much of the West, will contrast with drier-than-normal conditions across the central and southern Plains, the Gulf Coast region, and the middle and southern Atlantic States.
