Another change in weather ahead
The pace of field work increased last week throughout most of the state. Many farmers, however, had delayed planting until after a good rain to improve soil moisture. Frost conditions were reported in parts of the state, but the damage on wheat and emerged corn was mostly mild. Some farmers reported concern about the frost damage to hay conditions.
Pleasant weather conditions continue today. A frontal boundary will approach Thursday bringing a chance for scattered showers and thunderstorms northwest of the Illinois River. Rains will increase across the entire area on Friday as the front to the southeast.
Another chilly air mass will invade the Midwest this weekend with highs only in the 50s while early morning lows range from the middle 30s to around 40 degrees.
