Snow on the way!

Snow on the way!

Low pressure will track out of New Mexico and into the central Plains today, then into the western Great Lakes by sunset tomorrow.

Snow will develop in extreme western Illinois by midday and spread northeast over central and east-central Illinois late this afternoon and evening. Snow will gradually become mixed with sleet or freezing rain late this afternoon over southeast Illinois, then points northward later tonight.Snowfall amounts of 4 to 6 inches will be possible west of I-55, with the heaviest amounts over Knox, Fulton and Schuyler counties. Amounts of 2 to 4 inches are expected east of I-55, including Champaign and Vermillion Counties.

An easterly wind will steadily increase through the day and early tonight. This will produce blowing and drifting of the snow.
