A parade of systems across the Midwest

Across the Corn Belt, the latest in a series of “Alberta clippers” is producing light snow across central and eastern portions of the region. Current snow depths include 6 inches in Rockford, Illinois, and Grand Rapids, Michigan. In the wake of the “clipper” system, bitterly cold, windy conditions prevail.

A moderating trend in temperatures expands on the Plains

Across the Corn Belt, bitter cold weather is stressing livestock, although the coldest conditions are west and north of primary winter wheat areas.

On the Plains, warmer weather is returning to the region, with Friday’s highs expected to average 5 to 10° above normal.
