Allerton Music Barn Festival 2007: Big Grove Zydeco

Where:

Allerton Music Barn, Monticello

When:

Monday Sep 3, 2007 6:30 pm to 12:00 am

Description:

Discover the accordion-fiddle driven dance music originally created by Creole and Cajun musicians of southwest Louisiana. Zydeco is a current name for this electrified mix of Creole, blues, Cajun and country. Tom Turino (accordions, fiddle, guitar) has been learning, composing, and playing this style for the last ten years in local festival and club performances. Ben Smith (fiddle), Ben Hay (guitar), J.B. Ferris (bass), and Gordon Kay (drums), all veterans of bands playing in styles ranging from Irish to old-time to African, have joined up to create a new blend of zydeco music. Dinner at 6:30pm, performance at 8:30pm. $41-$51
