Unearthing of time capsule

Jefferson building, corner of Randolph and Hill, Champaign

Description:

The Champaign Masonic Lodge will be unearthing a time capsule which was secreted in the cornerstone of the Jefferson building, which was built in 1912. This was the first building in Champaign erected for Masonic use. The time capsule contains various records of Masonic historical value, as well as photographs and news clippings from 1912, when the cornerstone was laid. The unearthing of the capsule will be at 10:30 s.m. The capsule will then be transported the current Masonic Center at 14 Bel Air Court, C,(about a block west of Neil on Windsor Road, on the north side of the street). At 2 p.m. the capsule will be opened and the contents displayed for all to see. All members of the public are invited to attend both events at no charge. Come and witness this historic event in the history of Champaign County!
