Five Sundays in September an adult seminar discussion will be led by Steve Shoemaker on "Christianity in America."  American Gospel:  God, the Founding Fathers and the Making of a Nation, 2006, by Jon Meacham (Editor of Newsweek) will be used as a resource.  Topics discussed will include:  Was the U.S. begun as a Christian nation?  How has the religious complexion changed over the decades?  What is tolerance?  Is the current American Empire Christian? Steve is a Presbyterian minister with a Ph.D. in Religion from Duke University.  He hosts "Keepin' the Faith" on WILL AM Sunday evenings at 5.  After serving McKinley Church and Foundation for 18 years, since 1999 he has been Executive Director of the University YMCA.
