Exhibit Opening and Reception. "Que Bola?: Cuban Hip Hop in Movement," by Marc D. Perry (Anthropology / African American Studies, U of I) 7 - 9 p.m., Humanities Lecture Hall, IPRH, 805 W. Pennsylvania Ave., Urbana. "Que Bola?: Cuban Hip Hop in Performance," offers a series of photographic images shot in Havana, Cuba in summer 2006 celebrating the vibrant energy and creative drive of Cuba's hip hop movement. Marc D. Perry is an assistant professor of Anthropology and African American Studies at the University of Illinois, Urbana-Champaign. His current book project, "Revolutionizing Blackness: Hip Hop in Late Socialist Cuba," draws on over two-and-half years of field work in Cuba among Havanas hip hop community. "Que Bola?: Cuban Hip Hop in Movement," will be on view at the IPRH from March 5 to May 9. The IPRH is open from 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday. Free and open to the public.
