Born Under a Bad Sky: Notes from the Dark Side of the Earth. In this chilling survey of the American landscape, investigative journalist Jeffrey St. Clair guides readers through the environmental wreckage of North America, from the plutonium-contaminated fields of the Hanford Nuclear Reservation to Indian Point Energy Center, the world's most dangerous nuclear plant. St. Clair exposes the corrupt political machinery driving the exploitation of the American outback. From the clear-cutting of ancient forests to the damming of some of the world's wildest rivers, he outs the politicians, Democratic and Republican alike, who are profiting from the poisoning of the planet. Enter a world that is part Hieronymus Bosch and part Georgia O'Keefe. This is not only a savage philippic against the foulers of Nature's temple, but a homage to the planet itself. There is beauty as well as horrors here. These dispatches are from the frontlines of the war on Earth. Gird yourself! For more information:
