Description:

Parkland College Permanent Collection Wide range of oil, watercolor and acrylic paintings from Parkland College Permanent Collection, on display at the Parkland Art Gallery from June 30 to July 31. Parkland Art Gallery summer hours: 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. Monday through Thursday. Parkland's multi-faceted Permanent Collection includes works donated to the college through the Parkland Foundation; works obtained through its Fine and Applied Arts student purchase awards; and pieces obtained through the Illinois Art-In-Architecture program. Includes an oil painting by Professor Ekstrom, entitled "Downtown" which was part of the Art-in-Architecture program. The state-funded program was created in 1977 to collect the works of Illinois artists for display in public buildings. "Downtown" depicts a lively section of Champaign and is on permanent display in the college's D Wing. Other exhibit pieces will include high-level Parkland student-generated works and paintings donated through the Foundation. Other artists include: Barbara England, Barbara Broderick, Sharon Brooks, Kristin Cain, Wanda Coady, Marsha Daniels, Antonio Gonzalez, Billy Morrow Jackson, Judy Jones, Vicky Kausselke, Don Lake, Joe Grindley, Paula McCarty, Jan Noble, Martha Seif, Scott Kimmit, Chris Starkey, Joan Gassisi, Virginia Rettburg, Birute Simaitis, Cindy Smith, Constance Smith, Milena Tiner, Dennis Lewis, and Louise Woodroofe.
