Saturday, Nov. 1: Champaign County Audubon Society Annual Field Trip to the Jasper-Pulaski Game Preserve to see thousands of Sandhill Cranes as they rest and feed at this Indiana Fish and Wildlife Area, a three-hour drive from Urbana. Meet at 10 a.m. at Anita Purves Nature Center parking lot, 1505 N. Broadway, Urbana. We stay till dusk to watch the cranes come to roost in the marsh, returning to Urbana about 10 p.m. Bring warm clothing, a sack lunch to eat at our stop at Willow Slough, and money for dinner at a family restaurant on the way home.
