With student soldiers, a 4:1 ratio of women to men on campus, and professors working on the Manhattan Project, which developed the atomic bomb, the University of Illinois was deeply affected by World War II. UI Archivist for Student Life and Culture Ellen Swain will describe the current oral history project of the University Archives capturing recollections of campus life during this pivotal era.
