Students and faculty of Arcola High School will host their annual Veterans' Day Assembly. Veterans and active servicemen and women from around the area are invited to attend. Elementary, junior high, and high school students will honor all veterans and active military personnel who attend. Assembly highlights will include: Military color guard; Introduction of veterans and military in attendance by branch of service; Honoring Arcola's Allen Roberts, killed in Iraq last year; A celebration of the Marine Corp's birthday, including a cake cutting ceremony; The proper folding of an American flag; Performances by the AHS band and chorus; Class projects on display; Coffee and refreshments 9am-10am for visiting veterans and military personnel; S.O.S. lunch (sponsored by community members) and cake following the ceremony.
