Sanctuary Choir presents Bach Cantata 147

The Sanctuary Choir will present Johann Sebastian Bach's magnificent cantata 147, "Herz und Mund und Tat und Leben" (Heart and Mouth and Deed and Life) at the first service on Sunday, Nov. 16, 2008 at 9 a.m. The Choir will be joined by our own Sherezade Panthaki, (soprano) and Jonathan Young (organ/harpsichord), First Pres favorites Matthew Leese (baritone) and Daniel Carberg (tenor), Melissa Davis (alto), as well as an outstanding orchestra that includes trumpet, oboes, violins, viola and cello. The Cantata opens with a spectacular choral and orchestral movement, beautiful recitatives and arias by the four soloists ensue, concluding with perhaps the most famous Bach chorale known today "Jesu, joy of man's desiring."
