Each year a keynote speaker discusses a pre-selected issue that tends to plague the campus or community. Past speakers have been Minister Louis Farrakhan, Talib Kweli, and Afeni Shakur. This year's speaker is Roland Martin, a nationally award-winning and multi-faced journalist. He is the author of various books, a commentator and also radio host. He was named by Ebony Magazine in 2008 as one of the 150 Most Influential African Americans in the United States, he is the 2008 winner of the NAACP Image Award for Best Interview for "In Conversation: The Sen. Barack Obama Interview." Martin will speak on these two issues; Barack and low productivity rate amongst students/African American males, and tie them together, give us a solution on how current college students can help alter that cycle. Free. All 100 Strong students will receive points for attending. Location is on the business quad right behind David Kinley Hall.View Events by date
