Winter Lights Festival

Where:

Krannert Center's lobby; 500 S. Goodwin, Urbana

When:

Sunday Dec 7, 2008 4:30 pm

Description:

Celebrate the wonder of the winter season as Krannert Center Student Association hosts the Winter Lights Festival. The gathering will feature performances on Stage 5 from a U of I Symphony Orchestra string quartet, a Jewish a cappella group, traditional Klezmer music, sign language interpretation of holiday carols, and a few seasonal tunes from the vocal group No Comment. Let the music move you from booth to booth as representatives from Buddhists for World Peace, the Intercultural Friendship Foundation, Hillel / Center for Jewish Life, the Pagan Society / Winter Solstice, the Muslim Students Association, and more share their own perspectives on celebrations during the winter months. The festival will also spread a spirit of generosity toward others by welcoming the Toys for Tots program, which will have a station set up for those who have the ability to donate. The celebration culminates with the lighting of a student-designed display representing the brilliance of the winter season. Free.
