The Café on the Lawn's 2009 season opens Tuesday, June 16 and runs through Friday, July 31 on the front lawn of The Center for Children's Services. Enjoy a great lunch while we learn. The Center for Children's Services is located at 702 North Logan, Danville, IL 61832. Café hours are 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Tuesday through Friday. To place an order for pick up customers can call 819-0564. An evening of dinner and live music, featuring Doc Ashton and the Root Canals will be held Friday, July 17, from 5 to 8 p.m. Meals are reasonably priced and made to order. The cuisine is freshly prepared, daily specials include summer salads, BBQ classics, grill gourmet entrees, and slow cooked Jamaican jerk. Fifty Vermilion County youth ages 14 to 24 are being hired and trained. The training opportunities include the Café on the Lawn, landscaping plans, and construction projects. This entrepreneurial work experience provides participants with a powerful sense of personal accomplishment and knowledge about the world of work. The Center for Children's Services is pleased to announce that it has received funding for a Summer Youth Work Readiness Skills Training Project through the Vermilion County Workforce Investment Board and the Job Training Partnership. This employment and training funding is a part of the Workforce Investment Act and the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009.
