Contemporary Paintings By Michelle DeSitter, will be on display Feb. 15 through April 15. Michelle is a senior at the University of Illinois Fine and Applied Arts. She plans to specialize in the field of painting conservation. Intense observation and understanding of an object and its contours is something that is very important within conservation. In order to clean and restore a work of art one must understand what it is and the materials that compose it. For instance, in "Grass Series" each piece explores a unique detail in a blade of grass using a distinct style and the brushstrokes from a historical period. A reception with DeSitter will be on Sunday, March 2, at 3 p.m. Admission is free and refreshments will be served.
