Friday, March 28-Saturday, March 29, Champaign County Audubon Society Trip to Prairie Chicken Refuge near Newton, to witness the chicken's spring booming display that takes place at dawn (6:15 a.m.). Participants may want to go down Friday, March 28, and stay overnight. The nearest motel is the River Park Motel in Newton, 783-2327 and there are many motels in Effingham. Meet at dawn on Saturday, March 29 in the parking lot of the IDNR office. We will not be in the blinds, but should have good views. Call Beth Chato, 344-6803, for directions and other details.
