PEORIA- 40 local Reserve Marines will return home to Peoria after their seven month deployment to Iraq in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom 06.08.2. They are expected to return to the Navy and Marine Corps Reserve Center in Peoria, on March 29 where family members and Marines of the Reserve Unit will greet them and commence the Heroes Welcome. Return times are subject to change. Due to parking lot restrictions, only families of the Marines with valid ID cards will be allowed to park inside the compound. All others must park outside of the Training Center. Local news affiliates will have designated parking spaces. For more information, contact Captain Miller at 309-697-8490, Ext #8. This is also an advance notice that the second detachment of Peoria Marines, who are still currently in Iraq attached to 3rd Battalion, 5th Marine Regiment, are anticipated to return in the near future. Exact times and dates for their arrival back to Peoria will be made public when it is available.
