New restaurant may take former Gould space by spring

CHAMPAIGN — The space recently vacated by Jim Gould Restaurant could become the home of another restaurant, Big Grove Tavern, this spring, a spokeswoman for One Main Development said.

"I would describe it as extremely accessible, with a more palatable price point for more people," said Cynthia Faullin, One Main's vice president of development.

Champaign council may raise cafe fees

CHAMPAIGN — City council members Tuesday night could enact changes to Champaign's outdoor cafe licensing program if they approve proposals brought to them by city officials.

The council is scheduled to meet on Tuesday (Jan. 17) at 7 p.m. in the Champaign City Building, 102 N. Neil St.

Zorba's makes comeback at Taste

Zorba's owner Matt Mortenson and his crew are back cooking the Greek specialty sandwiches along with pita and hummus and baklava at the Taste of Champaign-Urbana in West Side Park through Sunday.

Common Ground board OKs expansion project

URBANA -- Construction is expected to begin in October on the expansion of Common Ground Food Co-Op at Lincoln Square Village.

The cooperative's board of directors voted this week to go forward with a $1.6 million expansion that will nearly triple the store's retail space.
