Business roundup: Groundbreaking set for Danville credit union

DANVILLE — The Danville Bell Credit Union plans to break ground Saturday for a new facility at 3591 N. Vermilion St. in Danville.

The new 3,500-square-foot building near the intersection with Poland Road is expected to open early this fall. The credit union's current office is at 307 N. Walnut St., Danville.

2 credit unions in area downgraded

Two area credit unions were downgraded in BauerFinancial's latest ratings, based on regulatory data from Dec. 31.

Danville Consolidated Credit Union was downgraded from 3-star ("adequate") to 2-star ("problematic").

Also downgraded was Lauhoff Employees Credit Union in Danville, which dropped from 5-star ("superior") to 4-star ("excellent").

UI credit union top alumni credit card issuer

CHAMPAIGN — The University of Illinois VISA affinity card gained more new accounts in 2011 than any other college-affiliated credit card, according to a federal report.

The card — issued by the UI Employees Credit Union under an agreement with the UI Alumni Association — gained 3,452 new accounts in 2011.

Community Healthcare Credit Union to merge with Community Plus

CHAMPAIGN — Community Healthcare Credit Union plans to merge with Community Plus Federal Credit Union on Oct. 1, pending a vote Monday by Community Healthcare's members.

The proposed merger came about because Community Healthcare's board felt "the credit union needed to explore options to provide more services to members," said Community Healthcare Chairman John Hansen Jr.
