Trucking firm plans to close Paxton terminal

PAXTON — A trucking company has decided to close its shipping terminal in Paxton.

LeFebvre Companies Inc., based in Elk River, Minn., will close its terminal at 1065 W. Ottawa Road by the end of March, according to owner and President Paul LeFebvre.

LeFebvre said the closure is directly linked to the loss of the terminal's main customer, High Concrete Group LLC.

Cetis to expand staff in Champaign

CHAMPAIGN — Cetis Inc. plans to expand its staff in Champaign from 15 to 20, said John Grubb, the company's vice president of sales and marketing.

The company, which supplies hotels and other businesses with customized phones, has an office at 3362 Big Pine Trail, C.

That office handles marketing, outside sales, accounting and engineering, according to Grubb.


Champaign to hear plan to boost women-, minority-owned businesses

CHAMPAIGN — City administrators this week will ask the city council whether they should move forward with a program they hope will bolster the efforts they have already made in the past several years to encourage participation in city projects from women- and minority-owned businesses.


C-U's joblessness down, payrolls up last month

December unemployment rates for Champaign-Urbana were down in December, compared with December 2011 rates, while Danville's jobless rate increased slightly, the state Department of Employment Security reported Friday.


Job fair for Danville store's 105 positions starts Saturday

DANVILLE — Kohl's officials are still filling slots for a five-day job fair that starts Saturday and runs through Wednesday.

District Manager Stan Kirchgessner said the company has about 105 positions to fill before the Danville store at 3707 N. Vermilion St. opens in March. He said most of the jobs are part-time.

He will serve the Champaign area from the LeaderOne Financial office in Springfield.


Freeport-based company acquires Champaign engineering firm

CHAMPAIGN — Sodemann and Associates, an engineering firm in Champaign since 1955, has been acquired by Freeport-based Fehr Graham, the companies announced today.

Fehr Graham, founded in 1973 by Allen Fehr and Joseph Graham, in the last year had more than 90 professionals working in five offices in Illinois and southern Wisconsin.
