VA filling new positions in Danville

DANVILLE — The Veteran Affairs Illiana Healthcare System in Danville has already filled three of 39 new positions at the facility in Danville, according to VA officials.

The expansion comes just two months after Yahoo announced it would cut 2,000 jobs worldwide, or roughly 14 percent of its staff.

Consolidated Communications expects approval of SureWest deal

MATTOON — Consolidated Communications says it expects the California Public Utilities Commission to approve its acquisition of SureWest Communications on Thursday.

Shareholders of both Consolidated and SureWest are set to vote on the acquisition June 12. If approvals are given, Consolidated said it expects the transaction to close in early July.

Final plat for Rantoul distribution center up to village board

RANTOUL — The village board will be asked to approve the final plat for a subdivision of land that could be the site of a nearly 800,000-square-foot distribution center west of the village.

The name of the company and what would be distributed from the new plant has not been disclosed.
