It's Your Business: Five Guys to join crowd at Lone Star site

Five Guys Burgers and Fries, one of the nation's fastest-growing fast-food chains, is coming to Champaign's North Prospect Avenue area.

Five Guys will join previously announced Chipotle Mexican Grill, The Vitamin Shoppe and Mattress Firm in a two-building development at the former site of Lone Star Steakhouse.


It's Your Business: New St. Joseph spa caters to canines

There's a new spa in the St. Joseph area, but before you plan a weekend getaway, be aware it's only for dogs.

Knotty Dog Spaw & Resort is located about 2 miles west and 2 miles north of St. Joseph, at 1802 County Road 2000 E.

Operated by Christina Knutson, it provides grooming services, doggy day care and overnight boarding.


It's Your Business: Zorba's may reopen in April

Matt Mortenson's best guess is that Zorba's Restaurant will reopen in April.

The popular Campustown restaurant had to shut down after suffering water damage in a March 2011 fire.

But framing work was under way last week at the restaurant, 627 E. Green St., C.

That gave Mortenson hope that his business will be up and running in April.


It's Your Business: Ford City considers old Best Buy space

Ford City, the Ford-Lincoln dealership in Champaign, is considering a move north to the former Best Buy property on Anthony Drive in Champaign.

The move would put the dealership close to the Interstate 74 interchange with North Prospect Avenue, said Mark Pelafos, chief operating officer for Worden Martin Inc.

Within a few months, downtown Rantoul should have a new coffee shop and cafe.

Java Connection, a project of First United Methodist Church in Rantoul, is slated to open in the former Mediacom building at 107 E. Sangamon Ave.

If all goes as planned, southeast Urbana will have a new bakery Monday morning.

Rick's Bakery Cafe plans to open in the former Amano's Pizza space at 2018 S. Philo Road, U. The location is south of Dollar General and north of Dr. Kirk Noraian's periodontics practice in the shopping plaza formerly anchored by Jerry's IGA.

Come Friday, there will be a new place for pizza in downtown Urbana.

Black Rock Pizza Co. is opening in the former Red Star Liquors space at 114 S. Race St., U. Longtime residents may remember it as the home of The Embassy tavern.

Co-owner Carl Crawford said Black Rock will offer both specialty and custom thin-crust pizzas for lunch, supper and late night.

A day care facility for small dogs has opened on Champaign's west side.

GKK — a spinoff of Georgia's K-9 Komforts — opened this month at 230 S. Country Fair Drive in the space just north of WICD-TV.

Two new stores are coming to Champaign's Market Place Shopping Center this spring, and a few stores there are moving to new locations.

Bare Escentuals plans to open a store just off center court in the Macy's wing in March, said Dennis Robertson, Market Place general manager.


It's Your Business: B&B planned near Camargo

A Newman couple plans to open a bed-and-breakfast in a 19th-century home just west of Camargo in Douglas County.

Kim and Marylee McGee will hold an open house Feb. 11 for the Patterson Springs Bed & Breakfast. The event will last from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m., and the McGees will begin accepting guests after that.
