A gas station and convenience store will be built at the former Alexander Lumber property just off Prospect Avenue in Champaign.

McDaniel/Meyer Properties bought the 3.7-acre site at 902 W. Bloomington Road for $1.7 million in the spring. In recent months, the site has been cleared to prepare for construction, which is slated to start in September.

"We're excited to be there. We thought it would be a good fit for Mahomet. And we wanted to see how a satellite store would do," said Missy Holste, owner of Sweet Indulgence.
