The number of home foreclosure sales in Illinois dropped in the first quarter of this year, according to a report issued Wednesday by RealtyTrac.
A total of 8,403 foreclosure sales occurred in Illinois during January, February and March, the report said. That was down 11 percent from the previous quarter and down 5.8 percent from the same quarter a year earlier.

Home sales in Champaign County continued to surge in May, even though national sales showed some weakness.
The number of sales in Champaign County was up 26 percent from May 2009, while the average selling price was up 5 percent, according to the Multiple Listing Service of the Champaign County Association of Realtors.
URBANA – Architect Gary Olsen said he and his wife, Michele, would like to develop 34 to 42 condominiums on the former Windsor Swim Club property in southeast Urbana.
Two sets of plans have been drawn up, one incorporating the club's pool, but Olsen said it may not be financially practical to include the pool with that few units.

CHAMPAIGN — April proved to be a grand month for home buying, according to statistics from the Champaign County Association of Realtors’ Multiple Listing Service.
The number of home sales was up 37 percent from April 2009, and because the average price was higher, the dollar value of sales was up 50 percent.
DANVILLE – April figures from the Danville Area Board of Realtors indicate steady home sales, with more to come.
Bill Grubb, president of the board, said 53 homes were sold in April, with 95 sales pending. In March, 53 homes were sold, with 30 sales pending.
CHAMPAIGN – The Home Builders Association of East Central Illinois will collaborate on a "green" home this year, instead of holding a Showcase of Homes.
CHAMPAIGN – A two-year renovation of the former Whiteline Laundry building is approaching completion, and Janet Bubin has 11 new condominiums to show for it.
