URBANA — Ruler Foods is expected to open a grocery store in the former Jerry's IGA space on Philo Road this summer, The News-Gazette has learned.
It would be the third such Ruler Foods store planned for East Central Illinois. The discount food chain, which is affiliated with Kroger, has already made arrangements to open stores in Danville and Champaign.

Alpha-Care acquired Circle of Life HomeCare on Dec. 31, picking up Circle of Life's 75 employees. That agency has served the Peoria area for more than 30 years.
HOMER — Village board members will not be voting on a water and sewer agreement with Sunrise Coal tonight, according to Mayor David Lucas.
The special meeting was canceled because work on the contract had not been completed in time to provide adequate opportunity for review by board members and the public, Lucas said in an email.

CHAMPAIGN — The Fitness Center will vacate its longtime home on Galen Drive in Champaign and consolidate at its recently acquired facility on Round Barn Road, its general manager said Thursday.
Rich Ruthenberg said the facility at 1914 Round Barn Road, C, will be enlarged and remodeled over the next few weeks, and the move from 2508 Galen Drive will likely come in mid-March.
CHAMPAIGN — When you take 10 high school students with dreams of starting their own businesses and combine them with 10 local small-business owners, the hope is, you'll create 10 new, young business owners.
PAXTON — A nonprofit organization established 19 years ago to promote economic development in Ford County is disbanding due to a lack of funding and demand for its services.
The Community Economic Development Foundation will be dissolved effective June 1, the end of the organization's fiscal year, according to the foundation board's president, Randy Ferguson of Gibson City.
