URBANA — A Champaign man who admitted breaking into a home in that city last summer and stealing electronics was sentenced Wednesday to five years in prison.
CHAMPAIGN — A cab driver outside his car at a north Champaign gas station early Monday was robbed at gunpoint, according to Champaign police.
URBANA — A suburban Chicago man accused of using drug money to post bond to get out of jail on drug charges last month is back in jail.
Marshall F. Giorango, 19, of Orland Park, was arrested Tuesday at the Champaign County courthouse on a warrant charging him with money laundering.

RURAL TOLONO — An Urbana man was injured Tuesday after he allegedly fell asleep behind the wheel of a vehicle in rural Tolono.
According to a state police report, Ryan D. Rush, 28, who listed an address in Urbana, was driving a 2006 Chevrolet Cobalt north on Interstate 57 when he fell asleep near mile marker 226 west of Tolono at 6:02 p.m.
MATTOON — The Coles County coroner's office says a preliminary autopsy report shows that a Mattoon man died of a single gunshot wound to the head Monday night at a local bar.
Coroner Ed Schniers says 33-year-old Benjamin Newton was shot around the bridge of the nose.
Police say Newton was found unresponsive at Toasters Pub at 1408 Broadway Avenue around 7:40 p.m. Monday.
URBANA — A Champaign woman who admitted she had cocaine for sale in her home last summer has been sentenced to 12 years in prison.
Mykeshia Lipscomb, 32, whose last known address was in the 900 block of Pomona Drive, pleaded guilty Tuesday before Champaign County Judge Tom Difanis to possession with intent to deliver a controlled substance.
URBANA — A Chicago man who was allegedly cutting parts off U-Haul trucks early Monday has been criminally charged in Champaign County.
A Champaign police report said Christopher Balls, 38, was seen at the U-Haul Moving and Storage business at 306 E. University Ave. shortly after 2 a.m. allegedly cutting catalytic converters off an undisclosed number of trucks.
CHAMPAIGN — Barricades have been placed around a sinkhole that developed Tuesday afternoon in downtown Champaign.
Kris Koester, administrative services supervisor for Champaign public works, said a storm sewer line collapsed at about 3 p.m. Tuesday, causing everything above the line, including part of the intersection of Church and State streets, to sink down.
URBANA — A Savoy man who allegedly had more than 2 pounds of cannabis and thousands of dollars in cash in his apartment last week has been criminally charged in Champaign County.
CHAMPAIGN - An Urbana man was injured when he lost control of his sport utility vehicle on Interstate 74 Monday night.
An Illinois State Police report said Scott R. Wilson, 37, was taken to Carle Foundation Hospital for treatment following a crash that happened about 10 p.m. just west of Champaign.
