Sixth-graders go to Allerton Park; seventh-graders, to Brookfield Zoo
CHAMPAIGN — At Franklin Middle School, field trips to Allerton Park near Monticello for sixth-graders and Brookfield Zoo in the Chicago suburbs for seventh-graders tie in with what the students learn in class and give them a chance to see science at work in real life.
DANVILLE — The Danville Area Community College Ag Club will host its 2013 Ag Day on from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Thursday on campus at 2000 E. Main St.
The event is open to the public and free, except for the price of the luncheon.
A barbecue luncheon will be served from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. in the Mary Miller Gym. Carry-out lunches are not available.

CHAMPAIGN — The latest employment figures for law school graduates show hiring has improved in the last year, including at the University of Illinois College of Law.
The American Bar Association's Section of Legal Education and Admissions to the Bar released employment data Friday on employment for the class of 2012 as of Feb. 15, nine months after graduation.
SPRINGFIELD — An audit of the University of Illinois system found 30 separate irregularities, ranging from a former employee who was paid for four years after being terminated, to the failure of the university to purchase vehicles that met minimum fuel economy standards.

The winner of its fifth annual "K Street Classic" is the University of California, which spent $740,000 on lobbying in 2012, easily defeating runner-up University of Pittsburgh at $540,000.
