Grants to fund Franklin science field trips
Sixth-graders go to Allerton Park; seventh-graders, to Brookfield Zoo
CHAMPAIGN — At Franklin Middle School, field trips to Allerton Park near Monticello for sixth-graders and Brookfield Zoo in the Chicago suburbs for seventh-graders tie in with what the students learn in class and give them a chance to see science at work in real life.
DACC to host Ag Day
DANVILLE — The Danville Area Community College Ag Club will host its 2013 Ag Day on from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Thursday on campus at 2000 E. Main St.
The event is open to the public and free, except for the price of the luncheon.
A barbecue luncheon will be served from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. in the Mary Miller Gym. Carry-out lunches are not available.
Law grads' job prospects improve
CHAMPAIGN — The latest employment figures for law school graduates show hiring has improved in the last year, including at the University of Illinois College of Law.
The American Bar Association's Section of Legal Education and Admissions to the Bar released employment data Friday on employment for the class of 2012 as of Feb. 15, nine months after graduation.

SAVOY — In Elizabeth Slifer's fourth-grade classroom at Carrie Busey Elementary, students spent time this week learning about space — by watching videos from NASA.

SPRINGFIELD — An audit of the University of Illinois system found 30 separate irregularities, ranging from a former employee who was paid for four years after being terminated, to the failure of the university to purchase vehicles that met minimum fuel economy standards.

Event to show student talent, honor teachers
DANVILLE — The Danville Public School Foundation will celebrate excellence in teaching and spotlight the musical talents of students at "An Evening of Singing and Dancing."
The event will be held at 7 p.m. April 12 at the Dick Van Dyke Auditorium at Danville High School, 201 Fairchild St., Danville.
Dual-language program forum scheduled
URBANA — The Urbana school district is hosting a forum for parents about its dual-language program at 7 p.m. April 11, at Prairie Elementary, 2102 E. Washington St., U.
Those interested in learning more about the district's program are encouraged to attend. Applications for the program will be available at the forum.
