Legislators question Easter over meeting costs, raises, tuition

WESTVILLE — School board members appointed Pam Dalenberg to serve as principal of Judith Giacoma Elementary School through at least the end of the 2013-14 school year on Wednesday.


Three seeking Parkland seats at forum

CHAMPAIGN — The three candidates competing for two seats on the Parkland College Board of Trustees discussed their visions for the future of the college on Wednesday night.

Incumbents James Ayers of Monticello and Tom Bennett of Gibson City and challenger Sam McGrew of Champaign spoke at a forum at the Champaign City Building.

Vermilion teens could be 'attorneys' in Peer Court

DANVILLE — Vermilion County teens who are looking for something to do during spring break next week may want to consider volunteering as an "attorney" with the Peer Court program.

Peer Court Inc. is holding an attorney training and court session on Tuesday at the David S. Palmer Arena, 100 W. Main St., Danville. It will start at 11:30 a.m. and go to 7:30 p.m. or until court is over.


Bill would give alumni group five UI trustee appointments

SPRINGFIELD — The power to make appointments to the University of Illinois Board of Trustees — now solely the province of the governor — would have to be shared, under legislation approved Tuesday by the Senate Higher Education Committee.

Villa Grove OKs limited sports co-op with Heritage

VILLA GROVE — The Villa Grove school board on Monday approved a limited co-op with some sports to be shared with the Heritage school district.

While a majority of the Villa Grove board supports a full co-op, some members said they wanted more information before reaching that decision.
