Carle entry wins third place in Pink Glove Dance contest

URBANA — Those twinkle-toed Carle medical folks have won third place in the national Pink Glove Dance competition, and the money they won is being donated to the American Cancer Society.
Alzheimer's Association seeks volunteers to lead support groups

Frances Nelson Health Center now under local control
CHAMPAIGN — Frances Nelson Health Center is back under local leadership.
A local community group negotiating to buy the Champaign clinic from its Decatur parent organization completed the deal Nov. 1 but kept it quiet until Tuesday, after letters went out to patients, said Nancy Greenwalt, executive director of Promise Healthcare, the new organization operating Frances Nelson.
Second case of meningitis reported in Illinois
CHICAGO — A second probable case of fungal meningitis associated with the use of an injected steroid medication has been reported in Illinois, according to the Illinois Department of Public Health.
Hoopeston health facilities now part of Carle
HOOPESTON — The Hoopeston Regional Health Center and its branch clinics are now part of the Carle health system.
State regulators approved Carle's $2.7 million acquisition of the 24-bed hospital in Hoopeston and clinics in Cissna Park, Hoopeston, Rossville and Watseka in July, and the facilities were integrated into the Carle system Thursday.

Updated: Carle gets state OK to expand emergency department

BOLINGBROOK — Carle Foundation Hospital has received permission from state regulators to expand and remodel its 30-year-old emergency department.
The Illinois Health Facilities and Services Review Board approved the $18.5 million project Tuesday.
VA to showcase resources for caregivers
DANVILLE — The Department of Veterans Affairs Illiana Health Care System will hold a resource fair for caregivers on Nov. 7.
The event will be held from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. in the social activities room in Building 104 on the Danville campus, 1900 E. Main St.
Help available for Medicare Part D
URBANA — Help with Medicare Part D enrollment will be available for the public from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Monday at Provena Covenant Medical Center, Urbana.
A Medicare Part D community meeting and enrollment event will be held in the hospital auditorium at 1400 W. Park St., U, starting at 10 a.m., with doors opening at 9:30 a.m. for registration.
