CHAMPAIGN — Several years after trying to build its own outpatient surgery, Christie Clinic is now a joint owner of the Carle SurgiCenter in Champaign.

Fitness Center vacating older facility after 36 years

CHAMPAIGN — The Fitness Center will vacate its longtime home on Galen Drive in Champaign and consolidate at its recently acquired facility on Round Barn Road, its general manager said Thursday.

Rich Ruthenberg said the facility at 1914 Round Barn Road, C, will be enlarged and remodeled over the next few weeks, and the move from 2508 Galen Drive will likely come in mid-March.

Ford-Iroquois health department to discuss Indiana service at special meeting

GILMAN — Iroquois County Board Chairman Rod Copas stopped short of saying he will push for the dissolution of the Ford-Iroquois Public Health Department if the agency moves forward with its controversial plan to start providing home-health services across the Indiana border.

DANVILLE — Hospital readmissions cost Medicare a lot of money, but a new program to be steered by a Danville agency could keep a lot more Medicare patients from returning to the hospital after they've been discharged.

Hospitals limit visitors due to flu outbreak

URBANA — Two local hospitals have started restricting visitors for all patients, because of the severe flu outbreak.

The restriction went into effect Thursday afternoon at Provena Covenant Medical Center and Provena United Samaritans Medical Center, with patients limited to two visitors at a time.

VA imposing visit restrictions to minimize flu

DANVILLE — The Veterans Affairs Illiana Health Care System is putting visitor restrictions in place to minimize the spread of influenza.

Officials are asking the public to refrain from visiting the medical center's campus at 1900 E. Main St., Danville, if they have a cough, congestion, runny nose or fever. They may visit after they have not had symptoms for at least 24 hours.

County nursing home to offer respiratory therapy

URBANA — Long-discussed respiratory therapy services could be offered at the Champaign County Nursing Home as early as next Monday, the county nursing home board of directors was told Monday.
