HOLLAND, Mass. (AP) — The year was 1992, and Dick Hoyt and his son, Rick, wanted to run and bike across the country to raise funds for a charity for cerebral palsy — a condition 30-year-old Rick developed at birth.
CHAMPAIGN — Warm temperatures will remain through at least Wednesday, but keep an umbrella close as the National Weather Service forecasts showers and thunderstorms through Friday.
Early Monday morning brings the first chance for thunderstorms. The high temperature is expected to reach the mid-60s during the afternoon, but showers are likely throughout the day.
CHAMPAIGN — Now in its third year, the "Art of Science: Images from the Institute for Genomic Biology" exhibition will open on Thursday evening at the Indi Go Artist Co-op, 9 E. University Ave.
URBANA — University of Illinois students will present the medieval "Play of Antichrist" on Friday and Saturday at the McFarland Memorial Bell Tower on the UI's south quadrangle.
In early March, monster trumpeter Arturo Sandoval sent a tweet to a younger but equally awesome trumpeter, Alison Balsom:
"Italian Concertos. Congratulations, dear Alison, you are simply amazing."
He then suggested the two of them play duets. Looks like that might happen.
ST. JOSEPH — As young boys playing in the Salt Fork River, Levi Marriott and Paul Cousert often wondered if you could float the river all the way to the ocean.
In about 21 days, maybe as many as 28, the best friends from St. Joseph will finally answer that boyhood question when they paddle their canoe into the Gulf of Mexico.

In Birdland, spring seems to be settling in. For weeks now, since before that last blizzard, in fact, the bulbs in my yard have been pushing up their greenery more slowly than usual.
Spectators were crowding along the sides of the road next to the start line of the Boston Marathon. The wheelchair participants were lined up, and the top racers in the world were being introduced.
And Aaron Pike was pretty pumped up for his first Boston Marathon.
