DANVILLE - Danville aldermen decided Tuesday night to give a financial break to the out-of-town vendors that supply video-gaming terminals by canceling the fees that would have been charged in the city's local licensing process.

DANVILLE — Veterans Affairs Illiana Health Care System is restricting visitors because six patients at the hospital have influenza symptoms, according to a news release the facility sent Monday.

Although cases of flu and flu-like symptoms are on the decline across Illinois, according to weekly reports from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, the VA is not taking chances.

Rossville-Alvin OKs bond resolution for renovating high school

ROSSVILLE — Rossville-Alvin school officials are moving forward with plans to renovate the high school and move grade school operations there next school year.

Board members approved a resolution of intent to issue $1.15 million in bonds to help finance the repairs at a special meeting Monday.

Ciy officials voted to continue to use DCV Imports of Lincoln as the fireworks contractor for the city celebrations.

Hearing on Champaign County Jail canceled

URBANA — Monday’s public hearing scheduled for 6 p.m. at the Urbana Civic Center regarding the Champaign County Jail has been canceled.

Champaign County Administrator Deb Busey said that Dr. Alan Kalmanoff, director of the Institute for Law and Policy Planning, who was originally scheduled to speak at the hearing, was unable to make it to Champaign County from California.

Plans to improve Main up for Urbana vote

URBANA — City officials will be working to rehabilitate Main Street through a portion of the city this year, and residents will be able to review the plans this week.
