Not all are pleased by Rantoul road project

RANTOUL — Crews are in the midst of a $1.29 million construction project on Rantoul's northeast side designed to improve storm drainage and streets.

But some residents of the Gates Drive-Eater Drive intersection area are upset because of a planned change that will alter the look of the intersection and will add space to two front yards and driveways.

Sewer work to close portion of Webber

URBANA — A portion of Webber Street in Urbana will be closed for three days for sewer repair work.

Webber Street will be closed between Oregon Street and Washington Street beginning at 7 a.m. Monday while the city of Urbana makes sanitary sewer repairs.

Residents in the affected area of Webber Street will have access to their properties during the project.

Work will restrict two streets

Traffic will be restricted on two major streets in Champaign-Urbana starting Monday.

In Urbana, traffic on part of Vine Street will be reduced for three days for a water main repair.

Closing planned for bridge near Elliott

ELLIOTT — A bridge north of Elliott is expected to be closed for several months starting this week.

Ford County Highway Engineer Greg Perkinson told the county board at a highway committee meeting recently that the bridge on Elliott Road, about 3.5 miles north of Illinois 9, was inspected by the Illinois Department of Transportation at the county's request.

Champaign's Prospect Avenue reopens at 3 p.m. Friday

CHAMPAIGN — A combination of good weather and quick work by the contractor means that Prospect Avenue in Champaign is reopening to traffic two weeks ahead of schedule Friday afternoon.

More purchases OK'd for subway replacement in Danville

DANVILLE — Aldermen gave city officials the green light Tuesday night to spend more than $900,000 purchasing property and securing temporary easements along East Fairchild Street to make way for the replacement of the Fairchild subway.

Be warned: Prospect Avenue closure starts Monday

CHAMPAIGN — Beginning Monday, a major traffic artery through the center of Champaign will be severed for up to three weeks while workers install a bigger storm sewer to alleviate flooding problems.

Prospect Avenue will be closed to through traffic during the construction of the new sewer, and drivers will be rerouted to other roads.

Town Center traffic to be restricted in Champaign

CHAMPAIGN — Traffic on Town Center Boulevard in Champaign will be reduced during daytime hours for most of next week for storm sewer work.

One eastbound and one westbound lane of Town Center Boulevard will be closed between Prospect Avenue and Neil Street between 8 a.m. and 4 p.m. Monday through Nov. 18, weather permitting.

Part of Prospect down to two lanes next week

CHAMPAIGN — Starting at 7 a.m. Monday, Prospect Avenue will have two lanes closed at John Street for approximately one week as work continues on alleviating flooding in the John Street watershed.

Prospect Avenue in that area will be reduced from four to two lanes — one in each direction. Drivers are encouraged to find alternate routes.

Part of Webber Street to be closed Monday

URBANA — Webber Street in Urbana will be closed to through traffic between Oregon Street and Washington Street beginning at 7 a.m. Monday while the city makes sanitary-sewer repairs.

All residents along the street will be able to access their properties during the project.

The project is scheduled to be completed at 5 p.m. Wednesday.
