URBANA — A section of Philo Road south of Windsor Road will be fully open to the public this week after workers spent more than two months upgrading it to better handle urban traffic.
According to a city news release, workers will finish striping and posting signs and Philo Road will be open to traffic, weather permitting, starting Wednesday at 7 a.m.

DANVILLE - Aqua Illinois Water Company has announced that as a result of a water main leak just east of Danville High School, a portion of East Fairchild Street has been closed as of noon today.
CHAMPAIGN — The Illinois Department of Transportation has announced that starting Monday the Canadian National Railway will begin work to replace the railroad crossing on Springfield Avenue west of Duncan Road.
The crossing will be closed to all traffic while the work is done. It's expected to take seven to 10 days to complete.
DANVILLE — Starting Thursday (Oct. 18), North Ridge Middle School officials are implementing temporarily new traffic patterns and student drop-off and pickup procedures while workers do a driveway paving project.
The traffic patterns and procedures will be in effect through Oct. 25.
CHAMPAIGN - About 7:36 a.m., Champaign fire officials were alerted that a two-inch natural gas line had been cut at the intersection of Second Street and Gregory Drive on the University of Illinois campus.
Fire department spokeswoman Dena Schumacher said Ameren officials are there trying to fix it. Firefighters are standing by and police are in the area.
DANVILLE — The public works department will begin nighttime sanitary sewer cleaning, starting 12:01 a.m. Monday.
GIBSON CITY — A railroad crossing in Gibson City will be closed for about a week starting Monday, Oct. 1, to allow the Norfolk Southern Railroad to rebuild it, the Illinois Department of Transportation announced.
RURAL DANVILLE — The Vermilion County Highway Department will start a construction project on Henning Road, west of Danville, on Monday.
The project, being done by Open Road Paving of Urbana, calls for pulverizing, reshaping and overlaying a seven-tenths-mile stretch of pavement from Hillery to Hungry Hollow Road, according to County Highway Engineer Doug Staske.
CHAMPAIGN — The sidewalk at the northwest corner of the Champaign City Building will be closed for several weeks to allow for the removal of sidewalk pavers and the construction of landscape planters as part of a streetscape project.
DANVILLE — Provena United Samaritans Medical Center will begin a project today (Monday, Sept. 17) to replace sidewalks and driveways on the surgery ramp entrance on Logan Avenue.
During the project, which is expected to last five to six weeks, the ramp entrance will be closed.
