CHAMPAIGN – The city and the University of Illinois are moving ahead with plans to extend Fourth Street south through the research park to Windsor Road.
DANVILLE – Right now, Ron Miller and his customers can pull directly off of Fairchild Street and into the parking lot at his business, Danville Auto Center. But that access will be cut off when a new overpass bridge is built, replacing the deteriorating subway tunnel on Fairchild Street.
BELGIUM – The project to resurface Lyons Road cannot get started fast enough for Paul and Tammy Riggleman and their business.
Paul Riggleman said the potholes are so bad, he avoids it, taking side streets to reach their event facility called The Riggle at 400 Lyons Road, which runs 3.3 miles from Georgetown Road in Belgium west to Catlin.
URBANA - The eastbound lane of East University Avenue will be temporarily reduced to one lane at North Maple Street for sewer repairs Wednesday and Thursday. Maple Street south of University Avenue will be closed to southbound traffic during this time. Weather permitting, two-way traffic will be reinstated Thursday by 5 p.m.
DANVILLE – Officials in Vermilion County hope that 2011 is the year that the heavily worn and traveled Lyons Road that runs between Homer and Illinois 1 in Belgium undergoes major renovation.
"I'm going to be really happy once it's done," said Danville Township Highway Commissioner A.J. Wright. "It's been needing done forever."
PESOTUM — Snow-related accidents so far Saturday have been mostly minor, but the state police warn that wet conditions could lead to extremely icy interstates in the evening.
CHAMPAIGN — The intersection of North Lynn Street and Vine Street in Champaign will be closed to traffic through Wednesday to allow for pavement restoration in the first phase of the Washington East storm sewer project.
URBANA – A contractor for the Urbana-Champaign Sanitary District will be rehabilitating an interceptor sewer on North Coler Avenue between Fairview Avenue and Sunset Drive in Urbana Thursday. Traffic may be reduced to one lane and slowed between 7 a.m. and 5 p.m.
URBANA — The Urbana Public Works Department reports the intersection of High Street and Orchard Street will continue to be closed to traffic, weather permitting, through 4 p.m. Wednesday to complete sewer construction in that area.
URBANA – The intersection of High and Orchard streets will remain closed to through traffic until 5 p.m. Tuesday for sewer construction. There will be no detour but access to individual properties will be available.
