RANTOUL — A boil order has been lifted in Rantoul.
The Public Works Department lifted the boil order Thursday morning, and water in Rantoul is now safe to use, after two water main breaks were repaired Wednesday.
CHAMPAIGN — Windsor Road between Rising Road and Mullikin Drive will be closed to through traffic next week as workers relocate a storm sewer line.
The work is scheduled to begin on Monday, and the road is expected to reopen on Friday, according to a press release from Illinois American Water.
CHAMPAIGN — Neil Street in downtown Champaign is expected to reopen late Friday afternoon.
Neil Street has been closed between Church Street and Park Avenue since July 24 for sewer work and to add a manhole, both related to the hotel project proposed at the site of the former Metropolitan Building.
DANVILLE — Several designs have been proposed for resurfacing part of North Vermilion Street next year, but whichever option city officials choose, two things are for sure: Drivers will have a smoother ride and wider lanes.
The lanes are narrow on Vermilion Street between Fairchild and Harrison streets, about nine feet wide, according to city Engineer David Schnelle.
DANVILLE — The city also wants input from residents on a smaller streets project, whether to put a stop sign at the intersection of Denvale Drive and Country Club Drive.
CHAMPAIGN — Work on Neil Street will continue into next week while "unanticipated underground conditions" delay the project that was expected to be completed on Friday.

URBANA — The Illinois Department of Transportation announced that, weather permitting, night work is scheduled to begin Thursday (tonight, July 26) to replace reflective pavement markers on Interstate 74 between University Avenue and I-57 in Champaign County. The work will be done between 9 p.m. Thursday and 6 a.m. Friday.
DANVILLE — Beginning Tuesday (today, July 24), crews will be recoating almost 50 streets in the city and plan to finish Friday, weather permitting. No-parking signs will be displayed at each location 24 hours prior to the seal-coating, which involves applying a new layer of tar and chip to the existing street surface. The annual program is funded with gas tax dollars.
Seasonal construction work on area streets means some street closures beginning this week.
As part of Champaign's annual concrete street maintenance project, the concrete pavement at the intersection of Research Road, Newmark Drive and Newton Drive will be replaced. The intersection will be closed beginning Wednesday and should be reopened Monday, Aug. 13.
