So it makes sense that he answered the call in 2002 to spearhead the ongoing renovation of the 1894 Cisco Train Depot.
FOWLER, Ind. — A Gibson City man was killed in a two-vehicle accident Saturday on an Indiana highway.
The Benton County (Ind.) sheriff’s office said the accident occurred at 11:05 a.m. west of Fowler, Ind., when a Hyundai Elantra driven by Martin W. Gardner, 35, of Gibson City was struck by a Ford F-150 pickup truck driven by Charles E. Hofmeyer, 58, of Kentland, Ind.
URBANA — Weather permitting, California Avenue from Coler Avenue to Orchard Street in Urbana will be closed to through traffic from 7 a.m. Monday to 5 p.m. Friday for water main replacement.
Both directions of traffic will be detoured one block to the north via Coler Avenue, Illinois Street and Orchard Street.
Local traffic will be allowed.
CHAMPAIGN— A portion of Country Fair Drive in Champaign will be closed starting Monday while the Canadian National Railroad replaces the railroad crossing between Church Street and Springer Drive.
CHAMPAIGN— An intersection on Champaign's west side will remain closed for more than two weeks for reconstruction work.
The intersection of West Bradley Avenue and North Rising Road will be closed beginning at 7:30 a.m. Thursday.
The closure is expected to last until 5 p.m. Oct. 26, weather permitting.
URBANA— Traffic will be reduced on Washington Street in Urbana for about two days beginning Thursday for sewer repair work.
The west lane of Washington will be closed to traffic between Coler Street and Busey Avenue starting at 7 a.m.
Westbound traffic will be detoured north on Coler Street to Nevada Street and then west on Nevada to Busey Avenue.
URBANA— A portion of Busey Avenue in Urbana will be closed to through traffic for most of the day on Thursday for a sewer lining project.
Busey Avenue will be closed to through traffic between Clark Street and University Avenue from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. Thursday, weather permitting.
URBANA— Street closures are planned on two downtown Urbana streets for the International Beer Tasting and Chili Cookoff this weekend.
South Broadway Avenue between Elm Street and Main Street and Main Street between Broadway Avenue and Walnut Street will be closed beginning at 6 a.m. Saturday. The streets are scheduled to reopen at 1 a.m. Sunday.

URBANA — University of Illinois police would like bicyclists who ignore the Illinois Vehicle Code to be warned: You will be ticketed. And the ticket will cost you money.
CHAMPAIGN — Larissa Kramer says that Champaign-Urbana Mass Transit District officials should rethink a plan to designate only certain places as bus stops.
For the most part, MTD drivers currently will pick up and drop off passengers at any intersection.
But beginning next August, the MTD plans to use only designated bus stops.
