Danville homicide under investigation

DANVILLE – Danville police are investigating an early morning shooting that left a 26-year-old Danville man dead.

Danville Director of Public Safety Larry Thomason said police were called to a home in the 1500 block of East Fairchild Street around 5 a.m. Saturday.

Three critically injured in rural intersection crash

SEYMOUR — Three people were listed in critical condition late Saturday at an Urbana hospital following a morning accident in western Champaign County.

Champaign County sheriff’s Sgt. Jeff Vercler said the collision happened at a rural intersection about 3 1/2 miles south of Seymour at 9:55 a.m. and involved a car and a pickup truck.

Free dental services offered for children

URBANA — Free dental exams, cleanings and fluoride treatments will be available for kids from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. April 20 at Lincoln Square, Urbana.

The free dental services are being provided as part of Give Kids a Smile Day, sponsored by the Illini District Dental Society.

Little cause for alarm in precipitation since 2012

CHAMPAIGN — You'd never know it but local precipitation since Jan. 1, 2012, is still running well below normal.

Even after the 1.8 inches of rain officially recorded by the Illinois State Water Survey between 8 a.m. Wednesday and 8 a.m. Friday, precipitation over the last 15 1/2 months is more than 6 inches below normal.

Man charged with aggravated criminal sexual abuse

URBANA — A Champaign man has been criminally charged with sexually molesting a teenage girl.

Manson Davis, 32, who listed an address in the 3300 block of Kimberly Drive, was arraigned Friday on three counts of aggravated criminal sexual abuse, alleging three different acts with a teenage girl from Champaign that happened on March 22 and 31 at his home and hers.
