FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. — Andrew Riley, who on Friday posted an NCAA automatic qualifying time of 7.69 seconds in the prelims of the 60-meter hurdles, won the event Saturday in 7.53 — the second-best time in the NCAA this season — at the Tyson Invitational. Teammate Cody Wisslead (8.04) finished seventh.
MIAMI — The weather is warm in Florida, but the Illinois softball team's bats haven't warmed up yet.
The Illini dropped a 4-1 decision to Massachusetts in Friday's season opener, then fell 8-3 to No. 25 Louisville later in the day at the Florida International Combat Classic.

BATON ROUGE, La. — Megan Pawloski scored a pair of goals to lead the Illinois soccer team in a 5-0 rout of Oregon on Sunday, ending the LSU tournament on a positive note heading into Big Ten play next weekend.
Senior Jackie Guerra scored her first career goal, and Julie Ewing and Vanessa DiBernardo also connected for the 20th-ranked Illini.

The relationship of two compatriots might not be over — Ron Guenther might serve in some capacity for the Big Ten — but for now commissioner Jim Delany loses his closest ally when the Illini athletic director steps down June 30.
Whether it was the Big Ten Network, favorable bowl agreements, expansion that brought in Nebraska, or any number of major initiatives, Guenther has been "Robin" to Delany's "Batman." They always thought along similar lines. And during their lengthy terms, Delany has grown into the most prominent administrator in collegiate sports.
PARK RIDGE — Five members of the Illinois men's track and field team, including hurdles champions Andrew Riley and Cody Wisslead, were named to the All-Big Ten Outdoor first team.
The conference announced its award winners Wednesday.

With 26 team points, Illinois was tied for sixth place with Michigan State.
