The Illini volleyball team’s latest recruiting commitment could have joined her older sister at another Big Ten program.
McKenna Kelsay strongly considered it, too.
“That would have been really cool,” the Wheaton St. Francis senior said. “I’ve been to Michigan State a lot and I loved Michigan State. Definitely being able to play with Kristen was a big thing.”

Setter McKenna Kelsay, who guided Wheaton St. Francis to a state volleyball title last fall, has orally committed to Illinois.
The 5-foot-8 senior announced her decision this week on Twitter.
“She’s the real deal,” St. Francis coach Peg Kopec said Friday. “She’s a very athletic, talented girl. Very competitive.”
