Illinois and the McDonald's All-American game

For the third straight year, an Illinois men's basketball recruit will not play in the McDonald's All-American game.

The prestigious high school boys basketball game will take place at 8:30 p.m. on Wednesday, April 3, at Chicago's United Center. The game will be televised on ESPN.

Tuck has been super sub all season

By JEFF HUTH

CHAMPAIGN — It would be an exaggeration to label Taylor Tuck the one-woman bench.

But not by much.

The sixth player for a depth-challenged Illinois women’s basketball team, Tuck invariably accounts for the lion’s share of court time among reserves when coach Matt Bollant subs for his starting five.

Mennig: Winning certainly helps Bollant's recruiting

The 15 wins the Illinois women's basketball team has compiled this year is four more than last year.

And Illinois still has four regular season games to go under first-year head coach Matt Bollant before the Big Ten Tournament arrives March 7-10 at the Sears Centre in Hoffman Estates.

CHAMPAIGN — Two years ago, faced with the grim reality that she would not win her battle with cancer, Jen Smith quit her job as a student services adviser at Parkland College.

“I decided with whatever time I have left, I’m going to focus on living,” the Champaign native said. “And not just living, but living legendary was the slogan I went by.”
