Salt Fork, Shiloh rally to regional title appearance

CHRISMAN — The pressure was on Salt Fork. The Storm responded.

The state’s seventh-ranked Class 1A boys’ basketball team went 32 minutes and 56 seconds between leads but held off a determined Chrisman squad 41-35 in overtime of a regional semifinal game at Roger Beals Court.

Heritage, Judah set regional date

CLIFTON — Paxton-Buckley-Loda bounced back from a 15-9 first-quarter deficit against Gibson City-Melvin-Sibley to advance to the Clifton Central Regional semifinals with a 53-41 victory Tuesday night.

Chrisman 46, Milford 39. Ty Bolen poured in a game-high 22 points for the host Cardinals. The Bearcats were led by Jeff Cann (13 points) and Alex Portwood (12 points).

Monday's prep highlights: Vandeventer paces Villa Grove

Villa Grove 64, Fisher 53. Lucas Vandeventer scored a game-high 25 points for the fourth-seeded Blue Devils at Broadlands. Hans Carmien paced the Bunnies with 17 points.

Friday's highlights: SJ-O wins SVC title

AUSTIN TOLER scored eight of his 16 points in the first quarter as Bismarck-Henning made quick work of Armstrong-Potomac. ANDY BOTT added 15 points in the win, sinking four three-pointers. CHASE CONNELLY chipped in nine points for the Blue Devils. WADE ROGERS led the Trojans with 20 points.

Big 12: Centennial misses opportunity

NORMAL — Centennial jumped out to a 14-7 lead after one quarter but struggled to score thereafter in a 52-37 Big 12 Conference boys’ basketball loss to Normal West on Friday night. The loss kept the Chargers from gaining ground on first place.
Dedric Byrd led Centennial with 12 points. Illini commitment Michael Finke and Khalil Toombs added eight points apiece.

Drew Schrodt went 6 for 6 at the foul line and scored 13 points to lead the Panthers to a road win. Kyle Williams and Hans Carmien tallied 11 points apiece for the Bunnies.
